News Release

(Gwinnett County, Ga., June 23, 2026) – One year after joining the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 Dee has helped recover electronic evidence hidden inside walls, placed in vehicles, tucked behind furniture, or disguised as everyday electronics. She has played a major role in investigations throughout Gwinnett County and across Georgia.

As the agency’s Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K-9, Dee has participated in 50 deployments and is specifically trained to detect triphenylphosphine oxide, a chemical found in devices, including cell phones, USB drives, hard drives, laptops, tablets, cameras, remote devices, and vehicle tracking equipment.

K-9 Dee has assisted the following agencies during search warrants and investigative operations: Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Department of Community Supervision (DCS) Probation, Duluth Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Gwinnett County Police Department, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Lilburn Police Department, and Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office continues to utilize innovative tools to safeguard vulnerable individuals throughout the community. K‑9 Dee’s capabilities have enhanced the agency’s ability to recover critical evidence in time‑sensitive investigations and support regional law enforcement partners in combating crimes by locating concealed electronic storage devices that may otherwise go undetected during search warrants and investigative operations.

Residents are encouraged to stay alert and report suspicious activities related to exploitation or trafficking. To submit a tip to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, call 770-619-6655 or visit GwinnettCountySheriff.org.
