GWINNETT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ADDRESSES COMPLAINT REGARDING WARRANT SERVICE

GCSO

Oct 21, 2026

News Release

(Gwinnett County, Ga., October 21, 2026) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) is aware of a formal complaint and social media posts circulating regarding a warrant service. We take these concerns seriously.

On Monday, October 19th, GCSO Field Operations deputies served Joshua Poole with a felony probation violation warrant for five counts of Armed Robbery and six counts of Aggravated Assault in Norcross, Georgia. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies encountered Poole, who was taken into custody without incident. He remains in custody at the Gwinnett County Jail.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint alleging that during the execution of the warrant, a GCSO deputy chased an 8-year-old child and pointed a firearm at her.

The GCSO Internal Affairs Unit thoroughly reviewed all body-worn camera footage. Based on that review, it was established that the deputy did not chase the child and that no firearm was pointed at her.

The body-worn camera footage also showed deputies de-escalating the situation in accordance with professional standards. Recognizing that the child was frightened by law enforcement presence, a GCSO Warrants Unit sergeant took the time to speak with the child, reassure her, and apologize for frightening her. This interaction demonstrates the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to serving residents with compassion while carrying out law enforcement responsibilities.

This matter remains an active and ongoing investigation. Our investigators are diligently following up on leads, reviewing available evidence, and working closely with members of the community to gather information that may assist in the investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact our Internal Affairs Unit at (770) 822-3128 or submit a tip online at www.gwinnettcountysheriff.org/tip-line.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office is fully committed to treating every individual with dignity and respect while taking all necessary steps to keep our community safe.
