Secondary Metals Recycling Registration

This new law requires each sheriff’s office in the state to register secondary metal recycling businesses in the county; keep a record of each registration; and enter the registration into a statewide database which is searchable by all law enforcement agencies.

The Registration Process Steps:

Businesses and individuals may obtain a copy of the Secondary Metals Recyclers Registration form (PDF) by downloading it or by visiting the:

Complete and submit the registration form and registration fee in person to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office:

  • Non-Refundable Registration Fee of $200

  • Payment must be made by cash or money order payable to: The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office

  • Business and personal checks are not accepted

 

Identification Needed:

  • Citizenship/Qualified Alien Status​

  • If you are a qualified alien, your Secure and Verifiable documentation must be attached to the application​​

*Each registration is valid for a 12 month period beginning with the effective date as established by the sheriff's office once all the registration requirements are met.

Records Restriction Packet

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office only files Record Restrictions if the arrest was made by the Sheriff’s Office.

Record Restrictions will only be processed Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:30am – 3:30pm.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office requires the following documents to apply for a Record Restriction:

  • Current copy of Criminal History.

    • Must Come from a law enforcement agency

    • Be no more than 30 days old.

  • Court Disposition obtained from the Clerk of Court.

  • $25 Money Order for each arrest

    • Made payable to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.

  • Copy of driver’s license or state identification card.

  • Record Restriction Packet.

If the Record Restriction is approved, it is the responsibility of the applicant to contact the GBI/GCIC for instructions on the next step in completing the Restriction process, including any additional fees that may be required.
